Chinese Zodiac

The Chinese Zodiac can be traced to as early as the 4th millennium BC, making it one of the oldest horoscope systems in the world. Contrary to popular belief, the Chinese Zodiac does not merely concern itself with “fortune-telling”. It began as a system for social stability and individual well-being, particularly through the maintenance of harmony between man and nature. As such, early students of the Chinese Zodiac dutifully recorded changes in seasonal, agricultural, physical and astronomical cycles, as well as their impact on human lives. Eventually, the study of the Chinese Zodiac branched out towards personality research, seeking patterns to understand human nature. One could say that the Chinese Zodiac is not so much a means of “fortune-telling” as it is a means of “character reading”.
