Fake Pigeon or Fake Story?

A set of images were widely distributed among major forums and portals in China. These images demonstrate how some restaurants use rat to fake a popular Chinese dish: roasted pigeon.

Some netizens suggested this did not make sense because rat is probably more expensive than pigeon. In addition, their textures are drastically different.

    This is true. Rats are everywhere and cost almost nothing to the food caterer except the time to catch them. After all the good skills in marinating, seasoning and deep-frying, I bet you can’t tell any difference in textures between a pigeon and a rat! Don’t panic, if you look carefully at the prices of food before you eat in China.
