Nowadays companies have more and more requirements for their employees .It is familiar for us to see requirements such as “slim figure”, “white complexion” appear on employment ads.
However, what if they want candidates with body shape of exact measurement: 85cm(33.5 inches) Bust,67cm(26.4 inches) Waist and 90cm(35.4 inches) Hip? This seems too ridiculous, but it appeared in a hiring advertisement for a clothing company in Hangzhou.

Miss Huang ,a senior student, wishes to stay in Hangzhou after graduation. On Feb 11, when she walked past the Heaven Economic Development District (天堂经济开发区) in the Shixiao Road (石桥路), she found an ad in need of a personnel assistant which appealed to her very much. “My major in college is secretary, so this office-based job suits me well!”, she said.
However, when Miss Huang read through the job qualifications, she was startled. It said, 85cm Bust, 67cm Waist and 90cm Hip. “It’s humiliating to say, and at that time, I subconsciously look down to my boobs……How could there be such qualifications? It just an assistant position, why did they act like they are searching for beauty pageant contestants?”, she said
Then, Miss Huang dialed the telephone number on the ad wanting to know what was exactly going on. “A man picked up the phone and he said the three measurements are the only requirements; education background and height are not their considerations, which made me more confused: is this a trap?” Miss Huang asked herself.

Feb 11 at noon, a reporter arrived at the Heaven Economic Development Area. What caught his eyes is the huge billboard for recruiting people——about 20 square meters with red background and white letters, which is so striking.
At the end of the ad, the reporter found the assistant position which Miss Huang talked about. It showed “Job wanted: Assistant, Department: Human Resources, Salary negotiable, Qualifications: 85 cm Bust, 67cm Waist and 90cm Hip. The hiring company is what Miss Huang said: a clothing company in Hangzhou.
Maybe because of the Spring Festival Holiday, the reporter couldn’t find the staff of this company near the billboard. Afterward, the reporter contacted the company by phone. A man answered and said only those that meet the qualifications can apply. The reporter pretended that he had a friend with suitable waist and hip size but small boobs which is only 70cm. The reporter asked if his friend had a chance for an interview, the man responsed with “no no no, it’s too small to be interviewed.”
The company: we want an assistant and model, so we need one with exact measurements.
Even if you want a model, it’s no need to be so strict with the three measurements? Yesterday afternoon, the reporter dialed the number of the company again, a staff member said the leaders were on Spring Festival vacation and they would not be back until Feb 21.
According to what he said, this billboard had been posted since January, there were no other requirements for the assistant except for the three measurements. They had hired people like this before and now there had been more than ten qualified candidates under review. The staff member explained, the assistant would do some work as a fitting model along with her regular administrative duty, as such there were special requirements for the body shape.
Yesterday afternoon, the reporter finally found the mobile phone number of manager Zhou of this company in hope of further interview. However, till the reporter finished writing the article, Mr. Zhou’s phone had been off.
