The War On Avatar Is On

The craziness on Avatar is unprecedented in China. Here are some stories we summarized from Mtime, Wandafilm, CCTV online and Baidu Yule .

Navi-blah blah blah

Photoshop(PS) was widely used by fans and movie-goers who were impressed by the exotic Na’vis in Avatar to ps celebrities they liked, or didn’t like. Na’vi Singers, Na’vi movies stars, even Na’vi Barack Obama, tons of Na’vi-like pictures had been posted online. It was like you-name-it-I-ps-it. If you didn’t excel at Photoshop, it didn’t matter whatsoever, because there was software called “Avatar face-changing machine” available now, one that could help to ps uploaded pictures to female or male Na’vis as you wished.

Skyrocketing ticket price

Six hundred yuen (USD 88) for one ticket price of Avatar that was the highest auction price online! A movie ticket to Avatar is gold, until you see the crown jewel which was the ticket to IMAX cinemas; they are out numbered by the surging demand by far. In Shanghai, people lined up at 3 or 4 o’clock in morning to buy tickets which were sold out in half an hour. Some of them still ended up empty-handed. A cleaner working in the neighborhood mentioned she hadn’t seen something like this for years.

The only IMAX cinema in Shanghai is going to raise ticket price from $22 to $29 next week causing more people lining up before the box office opens

Real chaos or exaggerated news?

Another drama reported by Mtime happened at Wanda international cinema in Dongguan, Guangdong. A technical problem in the cinema turned an eager expectation of about five hundred movie fans to chaos that wasn’t eased until the manager was on his knees twice and refunded money fully after a four-hour standoff. However, lately the official website of Wanda international cinema admitted the outage but declared rest of the report is untruthful and that the cinema planned to file a lawsuit against the reporter.

The war on Avatar is on, both inside and outside the theater.
